Strong spatial structuring of clonal genetic diversity within blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) hedgerows and woodlands

چکیده

Abstract Hedgerows are an important component of agricultural landscapes, but in recent years have increasingly faced threats such as habitat loss, land use change, climate invasive species, pests and plant pathogens. Given the potential importance genetic diversity countering these threats, spatial distribution within across natural populations, we analyzed levels patterns blackthorn ( Prunus spinosa ), a key many hedgerows. Twenty-one populations from mixture hedgerows woodlands were genotyped for four nuclear five chloroplast microsatellites. Three hundred twenty-one unique clonal genotypes identified 558 individuals analyzed, 207 which found single individual. With exception population that appears to been planted recently seed (Peatlands Park), all exhibited evidence vegetative reproduction via suckering. Multi-ramet clones highly spatially structured ranged size < 1 258 m. These findings indicate asexual is widespread studied. Although clonality varied study sites, there was clear structuring each case. Such organization should be taken into account hedge management or where planting replanting becomes necessary. Knowledge extent source will allow selection genetically divergent material, rather than replicates same genotype.

An assessment of genetic variability and relationships among wild-grown blackthorn (Prunus spinosa L.) plants based on RAPD markers.

Prunus spinosa, blackthorn, exists as wild populations that inhabit uncultivated uplands of Coruh Valley in the northeastern part of Turkey; the fruit is used to make preserves. We examined genetic diversity in wild-grown Prunus spinosa; 16 individual plants from wild populations of Coruh Valley were sampled and subjected to RAPD (random amplified polymorphic DNA) analysis. We tested 51 random ...

in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low...

Assessment of the Genetic Diversity of Almond (Prunus dulcis) Using Microsatellite Markers and Morphological Traits

The genetic diversity among 56 almond (Prunus dulcis) genotypes was analysed using 35 microsatellite markers and 14 morphological traits. Analysis of morphological traits revealed a wide range of variation among the studied genotypes. Out of 35 simple sequence repeats (SSRs) markers, 25 were polymorphic, producing 215 alleles that varied from 2 to 16 with an average of 8.76 alleles per locus. R...

Analysis of genetic diversity between and within Iranian accessions of spinach (Spinacia oleraceae) by SRAP markers

Spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) is an economically important leafy vegetable crop in many countries. This is the first case study of using SRAP markers to analyze genetic diversity of Iranian spinach accessions. Eight SRAP primer combinations generated 88 scorable bands ranging from 50 to 1000 bp, among which 73 were polymorphic, with an average of 82.9 polymorphic bands per primer combination a...

Population genetic analysis of European Prunus spinosa (Rosaceae) using chloroplast DNA markers.

Chloroplast DNA diversity in Prunus spinosa, a common shrub of European deciduous forests, was assessed using the polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) technique. Thirty-two haplotypes were detected in 25 populations spread across the European continent. Ten haplotypes were shared by two or more populations, and 22 were private. The major proportion of th...
